Empowerment Weekly

Empowerment Circles
If you want to go fast, go alone.  If you want to go far, go together.   – African proverb
Empowerment Circles: A weekly empathic space for radical self-care and community building
· Are you working on improving your community or world in your own way?
· Do you sometimes feel angry, disheartened, sad, overwhelmed or other challenging emotions when facing current social or environmental issues?
· Do you want to build community, share support and feel nourished?

To address burnout and facilitate positive mental health, Hamilton Freeskool is offering a weekly space to acknowledge what deeply matters to each of us and to explore ways to sustain ourselves for the long haul. To empower each other in our collective efforts for social change and environmental justice, we’ll draw upon tools from the Nonviolent Communication TM process.

At each session participants will provide empathetic listening to each other on real issues. We’ll practice naming feelings, needs and requests in situations that matter to you - such as activist meetings, engaging with opponents, or speaking with friends and family. Participants will serve as resources to each other - sharing skills they’ve learned on self-care and community building. This will also be an opportunity to be with like-minded folks.

Feel free to drop in on some or all of the 6 sessions.  All are welcome! We aim to make this a safe and accessible space, so please let us know how we could accommodate you.
