Summer Loving OPIRG

Some brief updates on what OPIRG has been up to these (not so) quiet summer months:

STREET TREE PROJECT: Over 80 street tree requests in Crown Point Neighbourhood of Hamilton, thanks to our summer student staff Krista! A great partnership with the city of Hamilton's street tree programme means that OPIRG targets communities with higher than average poor air quality for a door to door campaign to sign people up for a free street tree. http://hamiltonstreettreeproject.blogspot.ca
Our 5th annual Alternative Welcome Week gets a new name: MAKING CONNECTIONS: SOCIAL JUSTICE AND ENVIRONMENT WEEK but keeps the theme of introducing McMaster students from all years to the exciting issues being addressed by other students in our volunteer working groups, as well as other campus and community groups. The week is being assembled by another summer student staff member: Madeleine: for now follow updates on twitter @ConnectionsWeek and check the opirg.ca events calendar.
A couple of our food-focused working groups have been active, FOOD NOT BOMBS! and FOOD FOR THOUGHT have both held events. Updates to come from them!
