“The World of Different Knowings” project looks at the question of university as a space for diverse knowledge. This research seeks to examine how knowledge is defined and by whom. In particular, I want to explore if and how Indigenous and non-Western knowledge bases can be integrated in education.
I am currently looking for volunteers to participate in focus groups which will take place on the following days: May 31st, June 14th, June 28th, July 6th, and August 10th, at 3pm in rm. 310E in Mills Library. In these sessions, participants will be shown various video clips from different scholars who have expertise in the area of questioning the nature of knowledge in our education. These hour-long sessions will require participants to engage in discussion that will be based on the video clips. They are encouraged to share their opinions, thoughts and concerns regarding their university experiences. However, the invite is not only restricted to students--all members of the community are welcome. People from all academic, professional and cultural backgrounds are invited and encouraged to participate.
