Inciting Action
The student publication INCITE has been pumping out high calibre issues on all things pertaining to the local, and the latest issue (April 2007) is no exception, especially considering OPIRG McMaster is mentioned along with some other great local initiatives under the heading SUMMER OF SOCIAL ACTION. Here's what they said about us:
OPIRG McMaster
www.opirg.ca
"The Ontario Public Interest Research Group (OPIRG) is a little office on the second floor of the Student Centre, full of incredible and innovative people who link research with action on social and environmental issues. Active in the summer months, there are many events and groups that would appreciate your participation.
Food Not Bombs collects unwanted food and cooks vegan meals from it that are given out in Gore Park each Sunday. Transportation for Liveable Communities promotes alternative sustainable transportation such as public transit, cycling and walking. Recycle Cycles takes discarded or used bikes, fixes them up with volunteer labour and sells them at a low price. OPIRG wants you! E-mail Randy (opirg@mcmaster.ca), the relaxed and radical OPIRG volunteer coordinator, to get involved in one of McMaster's coolest organizations."
Did you read that? "one of McMaster's coolest organizations." Wow! Thanks to whoever wrote the article! We're going to have to live up to that designation. Cool...thanks to our many cool volunteers who keep things at and around OPIRG chugging along.
