At intervals along the bayfront section of the waterfront trail, visitors to this lovely section of the city will find these City of Hamilton Vision 2020 Award Winners plaques - each plaque lists the winners of this nominated award for a particular year - this 2002 list is beside the channel near the public boat launch and included RECYCLE CYCLES, the community bicycle repair workshop run by volunteers that started as an OPIRG McMaster working group back in 1997.
Recycle Cycles is still going strong doing what they were awarded for doing: fixing donated bicycles for sale at low cost, and providing tools and assistance for people looking to fix and maintain their own bicycles. Still at 19 Pearl Street North in the basement of Erskine Presbyterian Church (enter off Morden) in the Strathconal neighbourhood.
A little further down, right at Bayfront Park, another plaque (2003), another OPIRG connection - this one former board member and working group contact Noor Nizam. And a bit further on still, another (2004), this time OPIRG staffer Randy Kay and his wife Beatrice Ekoko.
