Trees Raise the Hammer!

OPIRG's Street Tree Project is thriving due to the hard work and dedication of Krista Kruja, who is working along with Jay Carter of Environment Hamilton this year to get more street trees into Hamilton neighbourhoods with air quality problems.

The pilot project OPIRG ran last year in the Keith Neighbourhood with Jonathan Valencia in the student staff role, where he succeeded in getting 20 years of tree requests in one spring/summer! Krista builds on that experience in a different area of the city, this time in Crown Point.

Well, lets allow her to update you, which she does in this excellent article on Raise the Hammer!

We are very proud of Krista's good natured collaborative work ethic and we have high hopes for the project again this year! (And thank you to Raise the Hammer for providing this community portal for action and debate!)
