Keeping old batteries out of the landfill just got easier for McMaster students, faculty, staff and the local community. A collaborative effort between OPIRG McMaster's Battery Recycling Organization (MacBRO) and the McMaster Student Union's “Union Market,” McMaster's Titles Bookstore, and Athletic and Recreation means that drop-off boxes are now in place for you to recycle used batteries.

Fourth year Civil Engineering and Management student and Mac BRO founder Jennifer Li did the connecting to power this project forward.

“Battery collection is a missing step in making sure hazardous waste doesn't end up in landfill” says Li. “We need to make it easier for people to dispose of their batteries in an environmentally friendly way, while raising awareness among the McMaster population.”
